Life is a race. You either win, or you learn.
From a distance, you couldn’t help but admire Kelly’s bouncing blonde ponytail and beautiful running stride as she hit the pavement in perfect tempo. On occasions, you would find her younger brother Byron by her side, her best friend, her sidekick, and her biggest fan. Kelly LaBare was an education advocate and premiere road runner in upstate New York. In 1997, Kelly passed away unexpectedly from a heart condition at the young age of 25. Kelly left more than a legacy as an incredible athlete, she was also a beautiful person inside and out, kind, humble, accomplished, and considerate of others. Her spiritual foundation manifested in everything she did and those lives she touched. Her strong belief in education led her to make her mark early in life while graduating with high honors from Cornell University. Kelly had many hopes and dreams, and with the support of her family and friends, whom she cherished the most, she made those dreams come true. On Sunday, August 7, 2022, we will celebrate her beautiful life on the 25th Anniversary with the Kelly LaBare 5K Run and Walk. Join us.
